i'm not to keen on this whole cloud computing concept that is floating around at the moment. Anyone else have doubts?
"Floting around at the moment?" Forget it, it's come and gone and is here to stay.
Most people don't call it a 'cloud,' but an amazing number of people pretty much just use Facebook as their only photo-storage facility. Forget the fact that many of them become down-rezzed when doing so...and that's before you get into conversations about how safe the data is and how you can access it. Those kind of thoughts don't even enter most people's minds.
I've heard from so many people who have lost entire computer drives and kind of laugh it off 'cause their photos are on Facebook and their music is on their iPod.
You and I may see the downsides to cloud computing compared to what we do now, but for these people a better cloud-computing-workflow from a company like Apple would actually be a huge step UP.

It's just a start of things to come.
With the new webmail and address book an online ical version is not far away.
Look at what you can do with 10.5 server.
Also the iWeb part could get a boost.
So you have:

Address book
iCal Calendar view
Groups calendar
Website editor (new version of old HomePage)
Sync
Backup
Al these thing in a new and dynamic way with AJAX tech.
Now if you only can edit your documents online in a texteditor...

I just did an update to iTunes and now when I try and launch the application I am getting a message: The folder "iTunes" can not be found or created and required. The default location for the folder is inside the "Music" folder. I can select "choose library" but it will not allow me to select iTunes.
Any ideas what I can do?

The problem with that is that without a real HDMI connector HD-DVD or Blue-Ray commercial disks will downsample the video due to the DRM restrictions. You have to have an actual HDMI connector on both ends and they have to support HDCP to get a fully digital, full resolution image on any monitor/HDTV.
--laurenceI guess I'm not as much of a purist as some here. I make DVDs off EyeTV digital HD broadcast recordings with Toast 7 and they look and sound very close to the original HD broadcasts on my 24" Dell 1920 x 1200 display. I cannot see much nor hear any difference.
Call me old fashioned but I just don't see why I would want Blu-ray or HD-DVD until they are cost competitive with good old fashioned single layer 4.38 GB DVDs. :rolleyes:

As for design, I'm REALLY hoping for a flip phone -- but something tells me Apple is going to go with a candy bar design. The only reason I hate those is because no matter HOW complicated it is to lock/unlock the keys, it manages to ALWAYS happen in my pocket. And then I unknowingly place calls to people without realizing it, which is my worst nightmare.
Yeah, the candybar design seems to be the general consensus, though I'd consider one depending on what it has to offer. I made the switch to a flip phone after my old candybar type accidentally made calls to the police (even if the keys are locked, apparently 911 still goes through); I had a very awkward conversation over the phone, as I got a call back after one of these calls was placed asking if everything was alright :o . I think because I was watching Goldfinger, they heard gunshots and yells. My new phone just randomly takes pictures in my pocket. :confused:

i didnt read all the comments, but this is my opinion right here, this white iphone 4 launch makes absolutely no sense unless apple is planning to let it run for at least another 6 to 8 months without announcing any new hardware.
i suppose the new iphone 5 will only come out a lot latter than speculated and probably the supposed better guts will be a iphone 4 s just with better insides.
why does it make no sense?
The iPhone 4 isn't going anywhere for another year or so. Why does it hurt Apple to release another colour version of a phone to offer more choices to the customer? They are simply delivering on a promise they made last year.
Apple could easily announce a new iPhone in June and it would still sell millions.
Granted I am expecting them to announce something in September if the latest rumours are anything to go by.

I'd love to see Apple displace Google Maps on their iOS devices. That would be a major blow to Google and a major win for Apple and their iAd product. The more you tie maps into adverts the more personalized those adverts become. The more successful marketing campaigns. Apple can take iAds to the next level. :cool:

Is anyone here arguing that the way someone dresses does or should have a legal consequence in a rape situation? I haven't read every post, so perhaps someone is. Is treatment under the law the only aspect of this being discussed in this thread?
If politicians who are legislators are blaming the way women dress as a causal factor in rape cases, then legal consequences are the primary thing we are talking about here. Certain politicians' conviction that "immodest" or "revealing" dress leads to rape could have all sorts of terrifying legal consequences for women.
Back on the first page CaoCao attempted to deny that there was any connection between Muslim modesty and Christian modesty in dress. I think he actually demonstrated that they are fundamentally the same, differing only in minor degrees.

I'm still on my 3G, I don't know how long it's going to last.

I used to have the iPhone but I switched to Verizon when the iPhone 4 came out--didn't care for its hardware design, or for the dropped calls on AT&T. I've stayed away from the iPhone since its release on Verizon, too; I still don't care for the hardware design. We'll see what happens with iPhone 5, I guess.
